Have you ever listened to the radio and been transported to another place and time? One song that can take you back to a deeply held memory? Yeah, that happens to me.
Sometimes it is just one line that rings so true that you wait until the verse comes along and you just want to point it out and say see? Did you hear that part right there? That is what I mean; that is what I am living.
There are also times when it seems the entire song was written just for you. It's like they pulled part of your life out of your head and wrote a beautiful song to tell the world how you feel.
The amazing thing is that these songs seem to find you. They aren't always your type of music; but the words call to you. They can make you cry, sway or even sing out loud.
Listening hasn't been enough for me. I wanted to explore how these songs affected me. I just thought I would take you along for the ride...
I listen to the words too in music. I love pulling lines out of songs and putting them on paper around me. It's amazing how the human spirit is connected by so few, yet such meaningful words. It makes me realize, as you say, that we're all along for the ride!
ReplyDeleteI like your use of repetition of an idea to make a point..."That is what I mean; that is what I am living." I would say that this piece meets the RICCI test. My only suggestion would be to add a few sentences about a particular line - OR - weave a line into your writing somehow. Perhaps a song line referring to ..."That is what I mean; that is what I am living" would help emphasize your point.
I enjoyed stopping by! Thanks!
I love your thinking on this! It's amazing how a song can transport us to a certain place and time in our lives. Can't wait to read more. Thanks for letting me read!
